Calea Ternifolia
Celaea ternifolia, also known as bitter grass, or as the “dream herb,” is a plant originally used by the indigenous Chontal Indians of the Mexican state of Oaxaca. It has been scientifically demonstrated that extracts of this plant increase reaction times and the frequency and/or recollection of dreams. Wild Lettuce Extract (lactuca virosa)
Wild Lettuce is a popular ingredient in some sleep tonics, and has been used historically to aid sleep because of its mild sedative effet. In fact, it is so well known for this, that it is sometimes called “Lettuce Opium.” (Note: It contains NO opiates or any illegal substance; the term is due strictly to its well-known effects.) 5-Hydroxytryptophan or 5-HTP is a naturally occurring amino acid and is a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin. 5-HTP easily crosses the blood-brain barrier where it is converted into serotonin, the most important initiator of sleep and a necessary component of good overall sleep quality. 5-HTP has been reported simultaneously increasing total sleep time. DMAE (2-dimethylaminoethanol)
